Teacher Hack: One SUPER SIMPLE thing that I do everyday to help my teacher sanity!

So, I have to tell you honestly, I almost feel silly writing this post.  But, teaching is HARD and anything that I can do to help make it even a little easier is always a good thing! This teacher hack is really kind of a no-brainer, but I didn’t put it into practice until last year and it has really helped with my teacher sanity!   Read on!

Super Simple Teacher Hack!

So, here it is!  I won’t go home at the end of my teaching day until my desk is clean!  No matter what is going on, I always make sure to clean my desk before I leave. Super simple right?  It took me several years to figure this out though!

I can’t tell you how many times I would come into my classroom in the morning and my desk would be a total mess.  I started my day feeling disorganized and chaotic.

This is an example of what my desk looks like at the end of a school day.  I don’t get to sit at my desk often during the day, so it “catches” everything.  Looking at it makes me anxious!

So last year I started forcing myself to clean it up before I leave the building for the day.  This helps me tremendously!  It reminds me of what I did on the current day.  It helps me to reflect on what needs to be done for tomorrow.  It helps me to feel more composed and relaxed.  Win, win, win!

When I walk into my classroom in the morning, I feel calm and ready to go!
If I have more than just a few minutes at the end of the day, I also make a list of things that need to be accomplished in the morning in my bullet journal.  I also like to gather all of my materials for the next day (in the green tub).
