Back to School Self Care

Welcome back to my Getting Ready for Back to School Blog Mini-Series!  So, only 2 weeks left to go.  You know what that means right?  You are running “Outatime”!  Your summer is ALMOST over!  What am I doing?  Back to School Self Care! ME time…  or more importantly, family time!  This is a great time to STOP thinking about school for a minute.  I know, I know.  That is REALLY tough, but once school starts it is even HARDER to stop thinking about school for a minute.  Do it NOW.  I promise you won’t regret it.

Back to School Self Care ideas…

Family Time

I really try hard this time of my summer to spend some extra time with my family.  We LOVE going to Univeral Studios.  We don’t get to go every summer, but we try to go!
Other things that we have done aren’t quite as grandiose, but fun nonetheless!  The county fair, our first locked in room, taking a train to the big city, picnic in the backyard, school shopping together one at a time, some house cleaning (not fun, be we were all glad that it was done), going out to eat, staying in for a Harry Potter movie marathon, A Series of Unfortunate Events marathon, homemade popcorn, homemade cookies, cooking together, the Renaissance Faire..the list is endless.  Just spend a little extra time with those you love!
This is from a few years ago, but this is a fave pic of mine! It’s very rare that I post a pic of me and/or my boys!

Me Time

I also try to squeeze in a little me time.  Once school starts, there is precious little time for this either.  This is a great time to get my hair and nails done.  I like to do a little retail therapy in honor of  Back to School.  I try to finish my book (either the fun one or the teacher one).  I try to schedule some time to have lunch or dinner with my friends that I don’t get to see during the school year much or better yet, a little wine tasting!  I try to spend a day with my mom.  There is precious little of my summer left, I have to make it count!

Then, start thinking about Back to School

It is inevitable.  I will need to start thinking about going Back to School.  I like to make a list of everything that I need to do.  But, I try to remember that as long as I am ready for Open House (2 days before the kiddos come) and the first 2 weeks of school (it’s really just 2 days and then a full week), I am GOLDEN.  I really can’t plan too far ahead because I don’t know my students yet.  I need to learn more about them before I can really move forward, so why stress?
