November Writing Center Refresh: 3 Simple and Creative Ways to Makeover Your Student Writing Center!

November Student Writing Center Refresh

Add Paper: Social Media Writing Templates

Adding a fun new paper choice is always a great way to get your students excited about your student writing center again! This month you could try adding some fun “Social Media” writing templates. This writing paper template set includes templates for “Instantgram”, “Farcebook”, and “Pinteresting” templates. Students love to make their own posts! This makes for a great bullet board or writing display as well. You could even set topics for students to write about such as:

  • Make a post about something you are grateful for.
  • Share a picture of what you will be eating for Thanksgiving.
  • Make a post about what you are shopping for on Black Friday.
  • Make a pin about something that you are loving this month.

Add Novelty: Menu

This is the perfect time of year for students to create a fun menu! You could have them create a “perfect” menu of all of the foods that they love to eat, or a specific Thanksgiving Menu using things that they would eat for Thanksgiving.

Make a Menu. Student Writing Center

Students fold a piece of paper in half hamburger style. On the front, they add the name of their restaurant. On the inside, they write food choices for different categories: Appetizers, drinks, main dishes, side dishes, and desserts. You can have them add prices and pictures for the food items as well.

Journal: Gratitude Journal

November is about being Thankful and showing gratitude for people and things that we love! Adding a Thankful Journal to your student writing center will help students think and write about things that they are thankful for! Copy and staple and add to your writing center! This free journal has enough daily space for one week. Includes space for a drawing and some writing lines for Monday-Thursday, then a full page for the students to write what they are most thankful for.
