So, at school we have been talking about the classroom practices that get the “most bang for your buck”. One of the things that we have been talking about it having the kiddos self-assess. Having the students think about how they are doing with a particular topic, gives them ownership. An easy way of having the kiddos do this is by having them hold up a number of fingers (or put it down next to their hearts) to indicate understanding. The number of fingers they hold up correspond to their level of understanding on the rubric. So, in order to keep things cute in my room I came up with this little rubric. I am handing them out to the kiddos tomorrow and posting one in my classroom. What do you think? Do you think that this would be something that you could use in your classroom? Thanks for the input!
