Add Paper: Blank Newspaper Templates

When I was a youngster ( a LONG time ago), one of my favorite things to do with my friends was to create and write our own newspaper. We would make a template then each of us would write a story and draw a picture to go with it.

I am SURE your students would enjoy these as well! Put these fun blank newspaper templates into your writing center, and have your students write “articles” about the books and stories that you are reading in class. You can add the finished “newspapers” into your reading center for your students to read their friends’ newspapers!

Add Novelty: Book Review Bookmarks

As an adult, I often look to my friends for book recommendations. I also read book recommendations from others on social media, or when I am at the library! Your students will LOVE recommending books to their friends. Create some blank bookmarks for your writing center easily by cutting card stock into strips. Then, your students can make their bookmarks to share. Show them an example of a book review, and let them make their own!

Or… copy these super fun pre-made book review bookmarks. Students fill in and stick in the book that they are recommending. There is space for the book title, a book rating, and a checklist of reasons why the book was awesome. On the back you will find space to point out a specific page in the book and a place for a fun drawing!

Add some rainbow pencils to your writing center and your students will want to write all the things! These are super fun for handwriting practice, “rainbow writing” sight words, and super fun and colorful drawings! Add these super fun stencils and stampers (Amazon Affiliate Link) and you may never get your students OUT of your classroom writing center!

Tis the season to try to trap the leprechaun! Have your students do some procedural or how-to writing about how they would go about catching the leprechaun, or how to make a leprechaun trap! Use these fun, easy-to-understand How-To Writing Graphic Organizers. Your students will fill out the graphic organizer with their ideas, and then write their directions out on another piece of paper. You can find these fun graphic organizers and writing papers in my March Writing Center Refresh Pack!

This pack also includes a super fun leprechaun craft. Students could create the craft, and then write how to create the craft for others to follow.
